Greensboro, NC- EICOP visited North Carolina A&T State University on Monday, Nov. 20 to help students gain insight that will help them obtain a career in Hollywood.
Hosted by the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the program was called “Producing Content in Hollywood Master Class”. The class was held at 10 A.M. and was open to all students who were interested in pursuing a career in Hollywood.
“Do not sit back and wait. You create something? Get people buzzing and talking about it,” said Stacy Milner, “Those are the things that people are going to look for.”
Milner is the founder of the HBCU in LA program which provides HBCU students from all over the nation to participate in an 8-10 week experience. According to Milner, the experience is immersive and engaging.
“You are able,” stated Milner. Those words will hopefully inspire students to overcome their fear apply to the program.
The Master class was an open event open to all students. The College of Arts, Humanities, and Socials Sciences promoted the event to the entire student body through emails, social media, and flyers.
Students from the university who attended came from all types of majors. Some students were Journalism & Mass Communications majors, Professional Theatre majors, and Business majors.
In addition to the class, Milner was also able to give students the opportunity to watch the Just Mercy film before it hits theatres in partnership with the Warner Brothers and Afropunk.
The screening, which was held in Harrison Auditorium, was sold out and inspired students to fight for justice in their communities.
“Just Mercy was very captivating. I’m glad I got the opportunity to be one of the first to watch it.” – Ja’Quivous Goodwin
Students are highly encouraged to apply for the internship program before the deadline. The application consists of a personal statement, relevant resume, and recommendations.
